DECORA!
First appearing in the mid-90s due to the Japanese singer Tomoe Shinohara’s unique style, this sub-genre revolves around an excessive amount of decoration. Decora is a Japanese fashion style that is characterised by bold, bright colours and numerous accessories!

The outfits combine casual clothes with many layers in the form of multiple hair clips, bracelets, tulle skirts, stockings, pins and legwarmers! Face stickers are also common to be worn with colourful makeup, matching with wigs of unnatural colours. The clothing often has many prints, colourful, patterns etc. This style is often seen as very playful and child-like with no silhouette and a focus on over the top accessorizing.

Makeup is used and can be seen as minimal to give a child-like appearance. However some like to wear glitter, stickers, crystals under their eyes in hearts and star shapes! Popular hairstyles for women tend to be pigtails, braids, or curls. These add to the "cute" aspect of the outfit.

Cartoon characters often feature in these decora styles too. Such as Sanrio characters, Pokemon, Smurfs, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake and more!
